INSECT ARK is the brand-new solo project from Dana Schechter (Bee and Flower, Angels of Light, Botanica). Drawing from her decidedly more aggressive and experimental musical side, INSECT ARK is composed and performed as an analog-electronic hybrid: one woman, a sampler, a bass, a lap steel and a keyboard. She is currently working on her first EP.

Living and existing on two continents is hard by anyone's standards, and for a band it's really tough. I am mostly based in NYC again - so if anyone was to wonder why we seem to move a bit slow at times, this probably explains it.
Once I left Berlin and was back in NY I started playing again with Lynn Wright and Jon Petrow, two of Bee and Flower's original members. With the inclusion of Roderick Miller in Berlin, we have 4/5 of the "Original NY band" back in the swing...add to this the charms of Berliners Thomas Fietz (drums) and Jonathan Heine (guitars) and we have one hell of a band. The combination of talents has been amazing, and I value everyone's involvement and dedication to no end...
The new record is done and sounds fantastic! We had no fear of the dark this time, with more than a touch of "What's Mine Is Yours" plus all the lessons we learned from "Last Sight of Land". Release info is forthcoming. We promise to share it with you as soon as we can.
In the meantime, we're going to start picking up the pace - we're touring Europe in April/March 2011. We'll be doing a few local (NYC) trio shows in December and January. We're half way done with production on a twisted music video for the new song "Waiting Room" (featuring body paint, skeletons, and partial nudity. no joke!) So stay tuned!
Mixing the New Record: August 2010
› June 18, 2010
We're mixing the new record - our third, so far untitled - this August in Berlin, with Ingo Krauss @ Candy Bomber studios. YES: this means that by Sept 01, we will have the finished album in our greasy little hands! A release date is not yet set – while we look for a suitable home for its release – but we'll be posting a few new songs here and on myspace in the meantime, so stay tuned...

Fall 2007 Tour, Europe/UK
› November 19, 2007
Thanks to everyone who helped make our tour a very memorable experience. we\'ve just arrived home in Berlin safely.
No tour is complete without the usuals: long, long drives, getting lost, seeing new sights, making new friends, and the joy of making and sharing music every day.
We also had a few pitfalls such as food poisoning (mcdonalds! people, just don\'t do it), our van breaking down in scotland, and the gouging pain of gas prices in the UK, but overall we were lucky. Gig highlights were Prague, Tabor, Edinburgh, and Brussels...
An extra big thanks to Alex Czerny who was our trusty driver, and to Dominique Van De Cap, our guardian angel, and to all the promoters, clubs, friends and supporters along the way: the Rarefish gang, Adam Nenadal, Claire+Paul/Badge of Friendship, Chris Metzler, Bradley Kulisic, Torsten Hempelt, Trinity, Micheal Kamp + Walter Schmidt, Lucce+ Wim, Serge + Eline, Jay Taylor, Patrik + Tomske, Chris + Hilary/CESTA, Jozef, Manu + Flo, Mic/Acoustic Butterfly, Enon, Mono, and all the bands we played with.
Now... we will rest for 6 weeks... see you in February for the next tour!

Bee and Flower's second album is complete, after tirelessly working for 10 months. Expect some big surprises, including fully orchestrated strings and percussion, expanded keyboard work, vocal choirs, vintage electronics, and a bold new sound. Toby Dammit produced (and played percussion on) this record. Toby is well known for his drum / percussion work with Iggy Pop, Swans, Ryan Adams, Stephan Eicher, Bertrand Burgalat, and more; he also co-produced the single/video remix for the Bee and Flower Music Video "I Know Your Name."
The new album was engineered and mixed by Ingo Krauss (formerly of Conny Plank Studios, Köln Germany). Release info/date TBA.
Some of the very special guests on the record include Thomas Wydler of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (on all drums), Kristof Hahn of Angels of Light/Les Homme Savauges (guitars), Peter Von Poehl of A.S Dragon (guitars), plus cameos from members of Liaisons Dangereuses, Ben Becker, Casino Gitano, Way Cross, and more.
